Our Musicians - Ben Hartley

Ben Hartley has been playing drums since 1992, first learning with Berkshire Young Musicians Trust and then studying for a music degree at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama in London, graduating in 2006. Ben has been playing in rock bands since forming one with his school friends and has performed in most of Reading’s live venues. Ben played in a function band from 2000-2003, gigging across Reading, and has since deputised for other local function bands.

Outside the band, Ben is a freelance drummer and percussionist, playing all types of concerts and shows around Britain and throughout Europe. Over the years he has performed in every major concert hall in London. He also teaches young musicians everything from African drums to Xylophone.

Ben disagrees with most drummer jokes, but admittedly, does just sit at the back hitting things!
